Madrid, 26 May 2025The Organizing Committee of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games has announced another significant partnership: Bornan Sports Technology has been named the official provider of the Games Management System (GMS), delivering the digital infrastructure essential for the efficient execution of the event. Bornan Sports Technology specializes in digital solutions for major sporting events, has proven experience in numerous international sports projects, and offers comprehensive systems tailored to the complex demands of multi-sport events.

As part of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games, Bornan will provide the central Games Management System (GMS) – a digital backbone deployed across multiple departments, consolidating a wide range of tasks. Among other things, the system will be used to manage more than 10,000 volunteers.

Nine Modules for Smooth Technical Operations
A central module is participant registration: all accredited individuals – from athletes to officials – will complete a centralized online form, which will then be verified by the respective department. Sports registrations will also be processed via the GMS: delegations register their athletes for sports and disciplines, subject to approval by the responsible sport entries team.

To ensure security, the GMS includes an integrated access control system with scanning functionality – all accreditation badges will be equipped with QR codes that can be verified on-site. Furthermore, the system supports the coordination of arrivals and departures by allowing participants to enter their travel data, enabling the transport team to plan accordingly. Finally, the system also manages catering logistics: access to dining areas and meal entitlements are organized through the platform.

Eva Maria Cordoba Garcia, CEO & Founder of Bornan is excited about the collaboration: “We are really glad to cooperate with the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 Committee. It reflects exactly what we strive for in every project, delivering not only a robust and adaptable technology platform, but also providing dedicated expert support to ensure the system is used to its fullest potential. We sincerely appreciate the trust placed in our team and are excited to continue building an innovative, efficient, and memorable event together.”

Rebecca Walker, Manager Games Management System at Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU Games adds: “The collaboration with Bornan not only gives us access to a powerful technology platform but also the support of an experienced expert team that guides us in making the best use of the system.”

Bornan Sports Technology and FISU partner to upgrade Swiss Universities Games https://bornan.sport/bornan-sports-technology-and-fisu-partner-to-upgrade-swiss-universities-games/ https://bornan.sport/bornan-sports-technology-and-fisu-partner-to-upgrade-swiss-universities-games/#respond Thu, 08 May 2025 07:33:22 +0000 https://bornan.sport/?p=3245

More than 700 student-athletes were able to follow their results live for the first time thanks to a new timing and scoring collaboration between the International University Sports Federation, Bornan Sports Technology and the Swiss University Sports Federation.

715 student-athletes, 18 universities and higher education schools, 6 sports and 3 days of competitions in Tenero, the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland. Those are the numbers of the Swiss Universities Games that take place every two years. But for this fifth edition, for the first time ever, all participants were able to follow their results live on an app.

This first was made possible by FISU, who, with its technology partner Bornan, brought international level know-how and processes to a national university multisports event.

“University sport is growing rapidly”, explains FISU Secretary General and CEO Matthias Remund. “Expectations and needs are constantly evolving and technology is essential to challenge the status-quo and deliver life-changing global experiences to all our student-athletes.”

Cloud-based management system

FISU and Bornan used a cloud-based event management system as well as a new results system to cover all the competitions – beach volleyball, volleyball, ultimate frisbee, floorball, football 7 and function fitness – and deliver the results on a webpage as well as on an app on iOS and Android.

“Sharing knowledge and expertise with our 165 member national university sports federation is part of FISU’s missions”, shared an enthusiastic FISU Technology and Innovation Director, Joab Di Francesco. “Through the use cloud-based technology we were able to innovate and optimise the way result-linked services are delivered.”

“It has been an honour to empower the next generation of athletes and the Swiss Universities Games Committee that is behind them with smart and reliable technology solutions. Our contribution to the Swiss Universities Games 2025 reflects our belief in the power of sports, education, and innovation coming together”, said Eva Maria Cordoba, Founder & CEO of Bornan Sports Technology.

“It was a pleasure to have FISU and Bornan on board for the Swiss Universities Games in Tenero, concluded Jürg Klingelfuss, member of the Swiss Universities Games Organising Committee. We appreciate the effort they put in, and the result was a great boost for our event.”

As all partners are really satisfied with this first-timer and of course FISU and Bornan will not stop there, as the aim is to replicate some of the technology for the FISU World University Championship season in 2026 and look forward to many further innovations in the future.
